Train to Investigate an Accident

To become an accident investigator, not only intelligence and courage is needed, but also a mind with sharp analytical skills and power of deduction. Sometimes, investigating a road accident can be quite difficult, especially when there are no witnesses around to confirm the details. At this time, the responsibility of correct investigation rests solely in the investigator and it is up to him to clear suspicions, if any and prepare a perfect report. But that requires rigorous training and a would-be investigator needs to prepare and know the intricacies of a road accident investigation.

There may be several things with which a road accident investigator may have to deal with. He has to gather all the forensic evidences and interview the witnesses and all others who were involved in the incident. These have to be carried out with brisk efficiency and in a limited period of time.

  • Prepare a Road Traffic File: For this the investigator will have to train to know that what kind of injuries is liable to claim insurance money and will have to prepare a report stating his reasons for or against his decision. The report should include all the facts of the accident and should also carry, if necessary the doctor’s report to prove any particular kind of injury.
  • Industrial File: This kind of report usually carries the details of any injury which have taken place in the workplace and this should include the details and point of views of both the parties, the employer and the employee. Obviously, there are bound to be differences when the compensation is claimed and the it is the responsibility of the investigator to dig out the correct manner and nature of the injury before the transaction takes place.
  • Tracing an Individual: It often happens that a particular individual may have to be traced for a long time because he may be a potential suspect or a witness to the main incident. The witness may have been reluctant to part with information and sometimes tracing him or her becomes a necessity. However, to trace and track an individual without arousing suspicion can be tricky and the investigator needs to be skillfully trained to do his job.
