Copyright violations take place when there are people who attempt to illegally access material and other forms of intellectual property of others without due permission or performing other formalities. There is a copyright law that prevents or bars anyone from copying or using written materials that violates the exclusive rights of its author. This is a punishable offence that also extends to the act of illegal reproduction or distribution of the written property. In the modern world this law is also applicable to film, music and video producers. There are violations of their copyrights when illegal reproductions of such materials as well as its distribution take place.

The vast availability of facts and knowledge enables every user to all kinds of information that are useful and even critical. There are articles and pages that are researched and composed by writers on their own. And then there are those among us who use their hard work for their own benefit without caring to make amends or changes in them.
There is no copyright that applies over the information shared in these articles and pages. The writing style and arrangements however is copyrighted because that is the work of an individual writer. However there are users who intentionally violate this law and use facilities of “copy” and “paste” and then pass them off as their own.
The international access of the internet makes it susceptible to such violations without even knowing about them all the time. There may be users in one country who are violating copyrights law of another country. Even a timely detection makes it a difficult process to book the culprit and press charges.

Here are some ways that authors and publishers may be able to control an act of copyright violation amongst users with some success.
- Publishing the conditions and legal repercussions clearly on the page so that users are aware of the presence of “copyright” of that material.
- Publishing names and email or other contact information to enable users take prior permission of use.
- Mention clearly on the page that it is an ownership property that is not available for free use.
- When text materials are published they can be done selectively with quotation marks. This will ensure that a search will only bring results that have the exact line of words that are of the author in any given site.
Copyright Violations Cases
There are copyright violations cases that are brought under the purview of legal action when they are discovered. This is possible especially in case of acts of violation where the copyright infringements are visible.
People who are discovered of making reproductions of films and music compilations and then selling them. When proven the criminal offender can be fined and even sentenced to imprisonment.
There are cases where violations in literary works are made by people who use the material for distribution or research purpose. There are commercial films that are made of the works of authors without due permission and recognition. Such cases can attract fines and imprisonment when convicted under copyright law of various countries.
