The two most significant contributions of technological advancements of the modern age has been the use of Internet and email facility. Internet accessibility has almost literally turned the world into a far smaller place than was imagined earlier. And a large reason in that is the use of email access that has given a whole new definition to the task of writing and sending letters from one place to another.

The use of email facility has been a boon to modern day communication especially in corporate and business activities of countries across the globe. Electronic mails mean sending and receiving mails instantly at the click of a button. Gone are those days that were spent in patient anticipation by the sender about the important letter that he had posted and the time that might be taken for the receiver to receive it. There were also fears of loss and damage to the contents of a letter along with delayed delivery.

Disadvantages of Internet and Email

Despite the multiple benefits of the internet access and email usage there are certain disadvantages that are present within it. The vast expanse of the internet and the variety of topics and subjects that it covers makes it extremely vulnerable to all kinds of illicit as well as unethical websites along with websites that are useful and informative. The number of internet users across the world everyday exposes them to the access and addiction to such sites equally.

Internet and Email Misuse by Employees

According to organizational policies employees are not allowed to the access of personal emails and internet surfing during office hours. They are not authorized to use official email ids for their personal purposes. There are policies for employees against blogging as well. It is also found that internet access to pornographic websites are also increased in percentage as the official internet connections are believed to be faster as well virus protected.

However all of the above policies are grossly overlooked by employees as they go about the usage of official internet access for all personal purposes. There is an increasingly large percentage of internet and email misuse employees who are flouting all official laws.
